Good for manga, but shipping was slow.

Much better than El Corte Inglés for manga, and the tazas literarias are cute, though shipping was a bit slow.

Got my manga, all good

Ordered some 'Dragon Ball' manga volumes and a cool bookmark. Everything arrived fine, didn't take too long. It was an easy checkout process, no fuss. The books were in good condition. Pretty happy with it.

My favorite place for books!

I just got 'La ciudad y los perros' and a cool literary mug, and I'm so happy! Their selection is incredible, and everything arrived so well-packaged. I absolutely love finding all my favorite Spanish authors here. I'm already planning my next order; this place is fantastic!

Always reliable for books

I ordered 'El paciente' by Juan Gómez-Jurado again, and like my previous purchases, it arrived quickly and in perfect condition. Casa del Libro is my go-to for Spanish novels; they consistently deliver quality products. Never had an issue, which is why I keep coming back.

Decent experience, minor snag

I purchased 'Sapiens: De animales a dioses' and a set of designer stationery. The book arrived perfectly, and the stationery was lovely. The website was mostly easy to use, though I had a little trouble finding the specific section for art books at first. Delivery was within the estimated window, about four days. Customer service was not needed, so I can't comment there. Value for money is good, especially for the wide range of titles. It was a good buy, no major complaints.

Good selection, shipping could improve

I bought an eReader Tagus and 'Cien años de soledad' as an eBook. The ordering process was straightforward, and the website was easy to navigate. The eReader works great, and the eBook downloaded without any issues. Shipping for a physical book, 'Patria' by Fernando Aramburu, took about five business days, which felt a little slow compared to other online stores. Customer service was helpful when I had a question about the Tagus warranty, responding within a day. Overall, a solid experience, but I hope they can speed up physical deliveries.

Thinking of getting an eReader from them, a Tagus. Are those any good compared to, like, a Kobo or basic Kindle?

D Dana Bennett 2 months ago
Tagus is their own brand. They're decent, especially if you plan to buy most of your ebooks from Casa del Libro. They integrate well with their store. But for overall flexibility, a Kobo might be better if you read from lots of different sources.

I have a Tagus, it's fine for reading, especially if you're into their ecosystem. Battery life is good. It's not super fancy like some high-end Kindles, but it does the job.

do they ever do free shipping to the US? Or is that just for Spain orders?

D David Lindqvist 1 month ago
Free shipping is usually a promo, and when they do it, it's often for a minimum spend. For international, I think it's less common or needs a higher threshold. Keep an eye out during Black Friday or big sales though.

I've seen free shipping promos, but usually for within Spain or sometimes Europe. For the US, it's pretty rare, you usually have to pay shipping.

Does Casa del Libro take PayPal or is it just credit cards? Trying to decide if I need to dig out my card.

B Beth Okafor 2 months ago
Pretty sure they take PayPal. I always use it for online stuff and don't remember any issues with them.

Yep, PayPal is an option. Used it last month for an ebook purchase, no problem.

I saw something about a 5% discount for books. Is that automatically applied or do I need a code?

T Tom 1 month ago
That 5% is usually automatic on new books. It's like a standard thing in Spain because of their book laws, I think. You won't see codes for bigger book discounts.

Yeah, it's pretty much a given for new books. If you see a code, it's probably for stationery or accessories.

Anyone know if they have a student discount? Or any first-time buyer deals?

G Gwen 2 months ago
I haven't seen a specific student discount, but they often have a 'welcome' coupon for new users if you sign up for their newsletter. Check their site for current promotions.

L Laura 2 months ago
They do offer like a 5 euro coupon sometimes for new sign-ups, that's the closest to a first-time buyer deal I've seen. No student one that I know of directly.
